Lynn Cox wins the 7th Annual Miss Palm Beach Gardens Pageant in 1972, receiving a bouquet of flowers from Mayor Walter Wiley. All girls living in Palm Beach Gardens and in the 11th or 12th grade were eligible to enter in the contest from its inception in 1966, a program that was and continues to be endorsed by the City Council and facilitated by the city's recreation department.
